Louisiana Public Service Commission (PSC) is an independent regulatory agency which manages public utilities and motor carriers in Louisiana.

Who is the PSC?

The Louisiana Public Service Commission (PSC) regulates areas of the Motor Carrier, Telecommunications, Electric, Gas, Water and Sewerage industries [1].

Why they matter: they decide on things from solar panels and net metering [2] to fines for companies that illegally placed surcharge fees on prisoner telephones [3]. They're the big deal you may have never heard of.

The Public Service Commission is a part of the executive branch. It consists of five members who are elected for overlapping terms of six years at the time [4].
