Nola Workers Group: Police Abolition

  • Duncan Plaza 1300 Perdido Street New Orleans, LA, 70112 United States (map)

Rubber bullets and tear gas are deployed by the police to defend and perpetuate racist inequality and the property of the rich. We are calling to defund the police whose budget swallows 63% of the city budget, while only 3% goes to families and children. We call for all hospitality tax money equaling $180 million to be returned to the people. We also call for an end to mass incarceration of mostly Black people in Orleans Parish, and that no mentally ill people be put in prison when they are in need of health facilities.
