March to Demand Unemployment Expansion and Safe Jobs!

  • City Hall 1300 Perdido Street New Orleans, LA, 70112 United States (map)

Hosted by New Orleans Hospitality Workers Alliance

Over 270,000 jobs have been lost in Louisiana. 88,000 of those jobs lost are in Orleans Parish. Millions will lose income replacement if unemployment is not extended. Countless more have been denied unemployment since the beginning of this pandemic.

Of the hospitality jobs that have been lost, 40% will likely not come back. WE REFUSE TO STARVE OR DIE IN SILENCE!
The future of our industry is uncertain but as workers we are preparing to fight back for what we know we deserve. Employed and unemployed workers UNITE!

We Demand
-The expansion of the $600 weekly federal unemployment benefits
-Expansion of unemployment insurance/income replacement to include all impacted by COVID-19
-Proper enforcement of COVID-19 workplace safety protocol
-Shut down any establishment that fires workers for demanding safety
